THE WEST PIER
Digital photography, Brighton, England.
Like a creature of the ocean, detached from the land, it emerges in the mist. As the sun rises, the light touches it and it’s full beauty comes into view. The magnitude of the pier is overwhelming, making anybody who stands in it's presence feel insignificant in comparison. The West Pier’s structural remains are left standing, ageing with the continuous movement of the sea that possesses it. A prisoner of the ocean, it overlooks the ever-growing city. This captivating creature retains memories of a decaying age, which once thrived excitement and delight. All we see is what’s left, a skeleton of a ghostly past, drifting towards the unconscious.
